Day 3
August 24, 2009: We have to have one more look at the Bulkley river and the spawning salmon before moving on. We really found the salmon run to be fascinating to watch. Watching these hardy little fish struggle so hard to swim upstream…..up these rapids and falls…..only to die a short time later, really grabs at a persons heartstrings. It’s almost a heroic journey and you want to cheer for the salmon. That Ikea commercial with the little cow creamer comes to mind……”Do you feel sad for the little fishes.” Yes. Yes, I do.
Day 3 was a big day, so I’m going to have several posts for this day so I can cover everything we did. Our next stop along highway 16 was New Hazleton. Well, actually we just made a pit stop and turned off the highway to go north into Hazleton. We did a short tour of this historic little mountain town.
